My name is Tebogo ”Teba '' Shumba, an artist, musician, director, script writer, permaculturist and activist that uses art as a means of healing. As an individual that grew up in an oppressive country ‘South Africa’ where I grew to free myself from bondage by using processes of creativity strategically and by being an artist. As a nation that consisted of very poor communities who couldn’t rely on politicians, artists played a very sacred significant role that informed, inspired, educated and liberated the people from all kinds of negativity. I learned visual art as a child then theatre and movements, later music that allowed me to combine all my artistic experience as a healing tool. Directed for 10 years as an artistic director and for performing arts as curriculum advisor under The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sports. I have been applying and sharing my experience and skills with youth that come from different backgrounds and countries.

Education & Accessibility

I have lived and worked as a Mathematics and Art educator in the US for more than 13 years during which I have acquired many profound skills in art working under the auspices of renowned artists. These acquired skills need to be shared and passed on to our up and coming youth in order for them to also experience Healing Through Art .The sustainable projects of the future 7 murals in 7 communities align with my commitment to integrate and involve all stakeholders in preserving our environment in a way that it can sustain itself and then use our collective skills towards beautification and communication of relevant upliftment for our marginalised communities. I am very effective in organising and implementing the approaches to dealing with complex issues due to marginalisation through the aftermath of the Apartheid regime.
